Creating the perfect Internet Privacy Policy Page is not all that hard if you know the areas that need to be addressed. These areas are discussed below.

  1. First thing to note. Your privacy page should be updated once a year or more if regulations and FTC policies change.
  2. What does your website do with the data does it collect? How is it gathered? You must explain what happens to any data that might be captured on your site or host. Even if you don’t capture data on your website, your host may capture IP address, time spent on your site, browser type, etc.
  3. Affiliates and linked sites – What kind of sites link to your website? What rule must they follow when a guest enters your site and interacts with a third party link? These must be addressed.
  4. Children that come to your site must be of a certain age to view. If your site is something to do with Disney or other kid related sites, then you might want to address that here. If this site is not related to children, then what is the appropriate age for a child to view the site. What conditions need to be met?
  5. Finally you are going to want to address the governing body that will control any litigation or complaints against your website or company. What must be presented or met before litigation can begin. Who is responsible for mandating jurisdiction?  This area of interest must be addressed or you could find yourself being sued by anyone and everyone from any part of the world. Setting boundaries is important.
